POLICE were called to the home of former Rangers, Hearts and Scotland star Neil McCann after reports of a bust-up.

A source said the 45-year-old refused to leave the house he shares with wife Karen in Murrayfield, Edinburgh.

It’s claimed police arrived after items of clothing were thrown out of the house.

POLICE spoke to former Rangers, Hearts and Scotland star Neil McCann after they were called to his home following reports of a disturbance.

The 45-year-old was at the Edinburgh house he shares with wife, Karen, in upmarket Murrayfield, when police arrived.

Sources said an apparent row led to McCann being asked to leave – with officers called when he refused to budge from the front of the house.

TV pundit McCann, who won 26 caps for Scotland, was offered advice from officers following the incident which happened on Monday afternoon.

Sources have told the Daily Record that police were called after items of clothing were thrown out of the house.

McCann, who won nine trophies during his time at Ibrox, was apparently refused entry back into the house before police turned up.

McCann and former beautician Karen married in Port Glasgow in 1996.

A source close to the former midfielder said: “Things got a bit heated at home and he was asked to leave by his wife. When he was refused entry back into the home, police were called to have him removed from the driveway.”

McCann, who was sacked as Dundee manager last year, has had an illustrious career in Scottish football.

He started his career with Dundee before moving on to Hearts in 1996. He helped the Tynecastle side win the Scottish Cup in 1998.

McCann moved to Rangers later that year for £1.9 million and left in 2003 for Southampton.

He then had brief spells at Hearts and Falkirk before he came out of retirement to sign for Dundee again. He hung up his boots for good in 2011 but later went on to manage Dundee before being sacked in October last year.

Greenock-born McCann is a well-known pundit, working for various broadcasters since quitting as a player.

Earlier this year, he said he had been subject to sectarian abuse from Celtic fans that stemmed from his decision to sign for Rangers.

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 4pm on Monday, October 7, police were called to assist at an address in the Murrayfield area of Edinburgh. Police attended, however, no crime has taken place and advice and assistance was given.”
