Lenny may eye Victor again after Spurs KO

-

FOR SALE Wanyama’s on list BY GABRIEL McKAY CELTIC could revive their interest in former Parkhead star Victor Wanyama after he was slapped on the transfer list at Spurs.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon was keen on bringing the midfielder back to Scotland in the summer.

Wanyama was also close to joining Club Brugge in the last window, but a deal collapsed and he remained in North London.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted he was part of his plans but the Kenyan has made just two sub appearances in the Premier League and now has been put up for sale.

Lennon said in September: “There was interest but it never got off the ground.

“Could we look at it again in January? We’ll have to wait and see.

“We might not want to with the balance of the squad now, as well as the affordability.”

Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Serge Aurier and Danny Rose are also on Pochettino’s for sale list but it’s former Bhoy Wanyama who is likely to catch the attention of Celtic fans.

The 28-year-old spent two seasons at Celts, winning two league titles and the Scottish Cup before moving to Southampton. MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI reckons Kris Ajer is costing him a fortune in fines – but he’s tipped his Parkhead pal to bank serious cash for Celtic.

On-loan Southampton ace Elyounoussi has relished the chance to link up with his Norway team-mate in Glasgow despite the pair regularly getting hit in the pocket for speaking in the dressing room in their native tongue.

Ajer said: “I’m good at chatting away, so it ends with Moi having to pay a fine, while I get away with it. It’s £100 every time you speak Norwegian – and if you come from Southampton, it’s £200!”

Elyounoussi has been happy to stump up and having seen Ajer at close quarters at club level he’s convinced it will be Celtic collecting big money sooner or later.

The wide man, who was a £16million signing for Saints in 2018, reckons the defender is destined for the English Premier League – and will break his Norwegian transfer record when he goes.

Elyounoussi said: “We’ll see how long we keep Kristoffer. He has been here for a couple of years and done very well.

“I expect to see him in a bigger club and a bigger league. From what I’ve seen of him in the past and now on a daily basis in training and in matches, he is more than good enough for the Premier League.

“You would expect him to go there one day – and to even beat my transfer record.”

Ajer is no stranger to the transfer talk and is on the watch lists of several clubs in England and Germany.

But he assured Hoops fans he is in no hurry to prove his pal’s point.
