FINES MAKE MORELOS A TOP PAYER
RYAN JACK has revealed how Rangers’ stars are always trying to get Alfredo Morelos fined.
The Colombian speaks little English and has taken time to settle into life in Glasgow since his arrival at Ibrox in 2017.
The 22-year-old lost best pal Daniel Candeias in the summer when the winger moved to Turkey.
But despite fears it could work against Rangers it appears to have galvanised the club’s top scorer.
Morelos has forged a strong bond with teammates like Jermain Defoe and Jack says his character is shining through despite the language barrier – even if it’s mostly to try and get out of paying fines.
Jack said: “I wouldn’t say he holds conversations with you but you definitely say things to him and he knows what you mean.
“He still has craic with the boys. We have a fines system and we’re always trying to get Alfredo fined.
“If you’re in the shower and leave it on it’s a fine, so we’ll all be shouting ‘That’s a fine!’ and he’ll be saying, ‘No! No! No fine!’
“It’s just little things like BY GRAEME YOUNG that, as he’s not from here, that makes him feel involved.
“Alfredo is another who trains the way he plays.
“What you see on the park is what he’s like all the time. He’s full-blooded. It’s as if it’s the last game he is ever going to play.
“You’d definitely rather have him on your side than not as he just runs about and causes carnage.”
Jack also reckons Morelos is being targeted by referees because his reputation precedes him.
The striker was sent off five times last season but has collected just four bookings in 19 outings so far this term.
Jack was sent off four times in six months after joining Gers from Aberdeen and says that Morelos has suffered like he did.
He added: “Some of my red cards were never red cards but some of the refs were maybe looking out for things and were thinking, ‘Oh it’s him again, straight red.’
“Alfredo is the same. He does anything and it’s a red card for any little decision.”
