CRAIG’S JIVE TALKIN’

Abrasive Strictly judge says viewers know nothing

- BY KELLY ALLEN

CRAIG Revel Horwood has unleashed his acid tongue on Strictly Come Dancing viewers after Dev Griffin left the show controversially – telling them all to “kick off”.

The public were left stunned when the Radio 1 presenter and partner Dianne Buswell were axed by the judges on Sunday.

But defiant Craig, 54, hit back: “They can kick off as much as they like.

“How much do they know about the cha cha cha? Nothing, darling... so they can kick off.”

Dev, 34, admitted he was “gutted” to be sent home so early after facing a dance-off against Lady Emma Weymouth, 33, and pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 29.

Former dancer James Jordan led the cries of derision, claiming “the judges didn’t do their jobs”, adding: “I was irritated by the judges. It was a bit of a farce.”

Craig claimed the former professional would come to the same decision.

Speaking at the Best Heroes Awards, he said: “James Jordan is just out for publicity and if he was on the judging panel, I’m telling you… you have to judge on what you see.

“Was Dev the right person to go? Yes. Would he have been better in the future? Yes. Was he better in the past? Yes.

“He just got a dance he wasn’t particularly good at and made a mistake. Dev was the worst dancer on the night.”

Craig added his comments on the BBC1 show are meant to be helpful, not nasty.

He said: “They are famous because they can do something that they are good at. So when you are criticised, it hurts more because you are not used to it.”

Judge Shirley Ballas, 59, blamed viewers for Dev’s exit. She said: “People have got to get out there and vote.”
