KING’S PURPLE REIGN

- BY GARRY OWEN

PURPLE KING (3.20) can leave his rivals stumped in the Marcus Trescothick Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton.

The gelding has made rapid headway for Dr Richard Newland and hammered Lake Baikal when last seen at Perth in July.

There should be plenty more to come from this smart fiveyear-old who can complete a hat-trick for his thriving handler.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT (2.45) can open his account over fences at the first time of asking. Dan Skelton’s horse showed some respectable form over timber and has the scope to be even better in his new career.

STOCKBURN (3.55) can maintain Alan King’s flying start in the Trethowans Handicap Chase. The six-year-old looked a decent stayer in the making when chasing home the useful Bally Longford at Ffos Las back in June.

HEAVEY (4.25) can make a winning handicap debut for in-form Neil Mullholland. The five-year-old can do plenty of damage in this sphere after his excellent third to Mega Double in a hot Cartmel novice.

THE BOOLA BEE (5.25) can wing it for Nigel Hawke in the conditionals’ chase.

The progressive mare will relish returning to three miles after giving Katalystic most problems at Perth last month. LOOKSNOWTLIKEBRIAN (1.45) can repeat last year’s win in the three-miler at Carlisle. Tim Vaughan’s chaser is best caught fresh and lurks on an attractive mark thanks to the talented Charlie Price’s 7lb claim.

GREEN ZONE (2.20) rates the safest option in the Racing TV Handicap Hurdle. Lisa Harrison’s gelding was unlucky to encounter Grey Diamond at Perth and can go one better over this extra four furlongs.

HIGGS (2.55) can strike for Team Newland in another trappy handicap hurdle.

The six-year-old can build on his eye-catching third to Back On The Lash at Exeter on debut for his skilled new trainer.

HONOURABLE GENT (3.25) can extend Rose Dobbin’s winning run in the two-mile chase. The 11-year-old will take some stopping with a repeat of his six-length hammering of Go Guarantor at Kelso last month.

Gavin Cromwell is flying so BOLD PEARL (4:00) can stay on the rise after her eye-catching third to Order Of Thistle in an above-par Sedgefield bumper.
