Barry blasts at ‘boring’ Ronnie

UPDATE

-

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN is locked in another explosive war of words with World Snooker chief Barry Hearn.

The Rocket was branded “deadly dull and boring” by the sport’s chairman for criticising venues and having to play lowerranked professionals.

Hearn said: “He is best left out there with the fairies at the bottom of the garden. Saying he is forced to play anyone is like Tiger Woods saying, ‘I don’t want to play someone who is not ranked in the top 10.’

“I used to find him quite amusing, now I find him deadly dull, so boring.”

But five-time world champion O’Sullivan, who scraped past Chinese teen Yuan Sijun 4-3 to reach the third round of the English Open at Crawley’s K2 Centre yesterday, hit back immediately.

He said: “Barry has his model of how to do things and I have mine. We are never going to agree.

“I’m probably the best snooker player that has ever lived and I know what a snooker event should be.”

O’Sullivan also admits his reduced schedule has left him playing catch up.

He said: “I’m not used to playing matches.

“I’ve not played in five months other than four matches at the Shanghai Masters. Everyone else has played seven tournaments so I’m off the pace.” MOTO: Formula 1 has reached an agreement in principle to host a race at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium from 2021.

The proposed grand prix on a track around the stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, would be a second F1 race in the States, alongside the US Grand Prix at Austin’s Circuit of The Americas.

It is subject to a vote by the Miami-Dade County on October 28.

A statement released by F1’s Sean Bratches, and Tom Garfinkel, chief executive of the Miami Dolphins, said: “We are thrilled to announce an agreement in principle to host the first-ever Formula One Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium.” CRICKET: Scotland coach Shane Burger insists he was delighted his team were stretched to the limit in Tuesday’s thrilling last-ball win over Ireland.

The Scots held their nerve to secure the moraleboosting success in Abu Dhabi ahead of their T20 World Cup Qualifier opener against Singapore in Dubai early tomorrow.

Burger said: “I’m really happy it went to the wire.” TENNIS: Coco Gauff crashed out in the first round of the Luxembourg Open – just days after winning her maiden WTA title. The 15-year-old lost 6-4 6-0 to Anna Blinkova.
