The teenage wizard is alarmed to learn a dangerous fugitive sorcerer is searching for him. Meanwhile, a new teacher at Hogwarts helps the bespectacl­ed youngster to protect himself from the school’s soul-sucking security guards. The third in the fantasy adventure series, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Monday

GLADIATOR SKY ONE, 9PM

Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius is a casualty of a power struggle between the corrupt Emperor Commodus and the senate. Ordered to be put to death along with his family, he escapes his would-be killers but is sold into slavery as a gladiator – and uses his fame in the arena to fight against the tyrant. Oscar-winning period epic, with Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix.

TRAINSPOTT­ING FILM4, 10.55PM

A heroin addict makes a series of attempts to kick the habit but the grind of everyday life and a circle of similarly self-destructiv­e friends keep dragging him back to his old ways. Following a near-fatal overdose, he comes to the realisatio­n that the only way to put his life in order is to rid himself of his friends – which is easier said than done. Danny Boyle’s drama stars Ewan McGregor.

T2: TRAINSPOTT­ING FILM4, 10.50PM

Recovering heroin addict Mark Renton returns to his Edinburgh roots after 20 years living overseas, hoping to make peace with the friends he abandoned. However, starting anew proves far from easy, especially when old partner in crime Begbie escapes from prison, still brooding on Renton’s betrayal. Danny Boyle’s drama sequel stars Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle.

MEN IN BLACK II FILM4, 7.15PM

Agent J investigat­es the unauthoris­ed landing of a spacecraft and discovers a malevolent alien disguised as a lingerie model is on the verge of destroying humanity. His only hope of stopping her diabolical plot is to restore the memory of his retired partner K – but his former mentor takes more than a little convincing. Sci-fi comedy sequel, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, starring Will Smith.
