Pick-up artist who preyed on schoolgirls jailed for 2 years

- BY CONNOR GORDON

ADNAN Ahmed, otherwise known as “Addy A-Game”, became notorious for harassing young women on the streets of Glasgow.

The self-styled “pick-up artist” even targeted schoolgirls for his repulsive and sleazy behaviour, which he recorded and put online.

He was found guilty last month of behaving in an abusive and threatening manner, and a sheriff yesterday jailed him for two years. Prison can sometimes be the wrong punishment but a custodial sentence was the correct call.

Ahmed’s behaviour, according to a social worker, was “entrenched” and it is clear he has no respect for women.

We also hope this appalling case leads to a sea change in attitudes.

Wolf whistling women as they walk down the street may have been considered a laugh in the 80s, but such sexism has no place in a modern society.

Women deserve to go about their daily business without being harassed or feeling awkward and it is a good day for justice when low-lifes like Ahmed see the inside of a prison cell.

A TWISTED pick-up artist who targeted schoolgirls was jailed yesterday for two years.

Adnan Ahmed, 38, approached schoolgirls and women aged between 16 and 20.

The offences took place between July 2016 to January 2019 in Glasgow city centre and Uddingston, near Glasgow.

Ahmed, known as “Addy A-Game”, was found guilty last month at Glasgow Sheriff Court of acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

He had pled not guilty and said he did not believe his conduct was “unlawful”.

Two of Ahmed’s victims were teenage girls on their way to school, others were young women in Glasgow city centre.

Sheriff Lindsay Wood yesterday praised the victims who gave evidence. He told Ahmed: “You gave evidence and said the victims were lying or mistaken but the jury thought otherwise.

“It was very obvious when they gave evidence how they were affected. You have acquired notoriety and an unenviable reputation. The public will be wise to such inappropriate behaviour.” Sheriff Wood placed Ahmed on the sex offenders ‘register for 10 years.

A woman in the public gallery sobbed as Ahmed was led away to jail. She had to be restrained by police officer as she ran towards the dock.

Ahmed used the name “Addy A-Game” on social media to post videos on dating and lifestyle tips.

His YouTube account was removed last month.

A social worker who compiled a background report on Ahmed described his behaviour as “so entrenched”.

Defence counsel Donna Armstrong said: “The accused accepts he was convicted and will change the way he speaks to women.”

Ahmed, of Maryhill, Glasgow, has previous convictions for drink driving and a jail sentence for firearms offence.
