MY TARTAN ARMY ARE HUGE HELP

-

FROM BACK PAGE planet lay it all on the line. IBF champ Taylor and WBA title holder Prograis clashed again at yesterday’s heated weigh-in as the Scot clocked in at 9st 13lbs 9oz with his American rival 4oz heavier.

Taylor is out to unify the division and claim the World Boxing Super Series Ali Trophy and Ring Magazine belt – and he is convinced he’ll hear a Hampden Roar in the 02.

He said: “I believe there are loads of folk coming down from my area. I don’t think there will be many folk left in the Pans.

“I’ve also got loads of people coming down from Edinburgh. I’ve had messages from folk all over Scotland saying they’re coming down and with Ricky Burns on the card there’s going to be loads of us in London.

“It’s going to be amazing to have a big Tartan Army there.

“I love being in front of a big crowd, under the lights in a big event. I thrive in that situation.

“So I can’t wait for it. The fighter is coming out in me now. I’m ready to go. I’ve done all my training, it’s just a waiting game. Right now I’m relaxed but when I see Prograis I just want to set about him now.”

Taylor is a slight underdog with the bookies but the pundits and ex-pros are split. The Scot has made an incredible rise through the ranks and is determined to become a Scottish boxing legend in just his 16th pro fight.

Taylor said: “I’ve only had 15 fights, I’m world champion and I’m involved in a unification fight for the Ring Magazine belt, the IBF and WBA belts and the Muhammad Ali Trophy.

“Prograis is a big name over in the US and is well spoken about so the potential after this fight is superstardom.”
