Mo and Co were desperate to avoid any repeat of their post-Europe flop

BY SCOTT BURNS sport@dailyrecord.co.uk let that advantage slip from their grasp.

On-loan Southampton star Elyounoussi said: “It was a nice win. We played well against Lazio on Thursday night but remembered what happened the last time after a European win when we lost at Livingston.

“Every team in the league wants to win against Celtic. Every game is tough.

“Aberdeen had fresh legs and we knew it would be difficult.

“The Livingston match was in the back of our heads but we just wanted to win and do our best. We wanted to show a reaction and that was a professional performance.

“We carried out our game plan and executed it well. We scored nice goals and controlled it.”

Celtic have a real cutting edge to their play, with last week’s thumping of Ross County and this win over the Dons taking their tally to 32 goals from 10 Premiership games.

Elyounoussi has played his part in that and scored again in the Granite City, along with Odsonne Edouard, Jeremie Frimpong and James Forrest.

He added: “The first half performance is up there at the top, as well as Ross County. Both were good games and we just tried to do our best to please everyone and get the win.

“We created some chances, we scored quick goals and in the second half we wanted it more.

“But Aberdeen are a tough team, they fought well and we are happy with the three points.

“Offensively, we have some good players and we showed some good combinations.

“Tom Rogic came in and was brilliant against Aberdeen.

“He found me twice for two of the goals.

“The confidence and the team spirit is really good at the moment.”

Elyounoussi reckons Celtic will only get better as he and the other new arrivals get used to their team-mates.

Lennon has been delighted with his side in their last three outings and Elyounoussi claimed: ”The players on the pitch are getting better.

“Boli (Bolingoli) and I were linking up along with James (Forrest) and Jeremie (Frimpong) on the other side.

“The relations are important and when you know where players are going to be then it is a lot easier to play one-twos
