LEWIS Capaldi is the first Scot to have a solo No1 in America in nearly 40 years. Someone You Loved has topped the US charts and the 23-year-old joins an illustrious list of countrymen and women including Sheena Easton, whose song Morning Train (Nine To Five) was No1 in

BY RICK FULTON 1981. As well as admitting he “never thought it would be a possibility” to join the select band of Scots, and Brits, to have a US No1, Lewis had a laugh on his Instagram Stories account by claiming Hollywood should get ready for him.

He said: “I’m going to lose weight, get my teeth done and elongate my c**k. Also get my arse cheeks done. I’m going to be a new man.”

Lewis, who admits he’s terrible at attracting attention from the opposite sex, joked that his new No1 will make him luckier in love.

He said: “Tell the Hollywood hills, they’ve got a s*agger on the way. S*agger incoming. LA, here he comes.” Lewis marked his first US No1 by painting his face with the Stars and Stripes and declaring himself “America’s sweetheart”.

He is the first Scot in 11 years to get a No1. The last was the Calvin Harris-penned We Found Love, with Rihanna.

To hit the top, Someone You Loved got 105.6million radio audience impressions, 25.2million US streams and 24,000 physical sales.

Lewis said: “I have no clue why this piano ballad has done what it’s done. I never thought we were writing a big song. I just wrote a song and, thankfully, people seemed to like it.”

Here are the other Scots who have had US No1s.
