Holt has high hopes for green light on Souda’s red-card appeal

- BY IAN ORR

LIVINGSTON have appealed Aymen Souda’s red card and will find out today if he has been cleared to face Hibs or if his two-match ban stands.

The French-Tunisian was sent-off four minutes after the break in Saturday’s goalless draw with Hearts after catching Christophe Berra with a high boot while trying an overhead kick.

Livi have reviewed footage of the incident and lodged a plea to overturn Souda’s dismissal for serious foul play. Gary Holt is convinced referee Greg Aitken overreacted by showing a red card.

The Lions boss said: “There’s a coming together, which there’s going to be because if I’m a defender I’m throwing my body in there to clear it and if I’m an attacker I’m throwing something at it to get it.

“I can’t fault a player for trying to get on the end of something to score a goal. It’s just frustrating that someone has deemed it a red card.”

Meanwhile, Robbie Crawford knows an angry Hibs support could help put smiles on Livi faces.

Crawford won 2-1 at Easter Road with Ayr in 2016 when they made the most of now-Livi team-mate Marvin Bartley being sent off to come back from a goal down in the final 20 minutes. And he said: “You can frustrate the Hibs supporters when you go there. With Ayr, that was our aim.

“But our aim now isn’t to go and frustrate the fans, it’s to go there and try to get the win.

“We know they’re a good side and maybe just on a wee bad run at the moment.

“But we know they’ve got quality players and we’ll need to be at the top of our game to go there and get a result.”
