Allan: Holt on a minute – I’m no cheat

-

SCOTT ALLAN has hit back at Gary Holt’s “cheating” claim, labelling the Livingston boss a bad loser. The Hibs midfielder was accused of diving to win a penalty during his side’s midweek 2-2 draw with the Lions. Holt urged SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte to study footage of the incident and slap a notice of complaint on

BY GORDON PARKS the player with a ban to follow.

Livi blew a two-goal lead on Wednesday night, with the first Hibs goal coming from Allan’s penalty after the midfielder had hit the deck with Livi’s Marvin Bartley in close proximity.

And Holt didn’t hold back in his viewpoint.

He said: “I’ve seen the penalty incident again. Simulation, cheating, a dive — use whatever words you like to describe what that was.”

But Allan is adamant he has nothing to apologise for an insists referee Gavin Duncan called it correctly.

He said: “That’s poor to be honest but it doesn’t hurt me.

“The amount of kicks I take in a game and get up and play on would back it up that I’m not a cheat. It’s about doing a job professionally and the best for my club.

“I’ve been called a lot worse over the years. I’m here to do a job for Hibs and I don’t really care what other managers think. He’s said it because his team’s let a two-goal lead slip but he’s clutching at straws

“It’s obviously just a manager who is a bit hurt after the game because his team let a 2-0 lead go. We have been in those positions and it’s not good – you look for excuses why your team didn’t get the result. It was a penalty.

“Your momentum takes you over as well when you’re running at that pace.”
