Toulon win has Toolis targeting Agen glory

-

BEN TOOLIS inists Edinburgh will be fired up by their stunning last trip to France when they face Agen in Friday’s Challenge Cup opener.

The Gunners lock can’t wait for the clash and said: “Last time we went over we claimed the scalp of Toulon. That was a pretty special achievement and this weekend we will have the same mindset.

“We don’t just want to win, we want to do it with a dominant display.

“We won’t be lacking in confidence thanks to our experience in Toulon and the fact that Montpellier only scraped past us in the same campaign.”

Scotland World Cup star Toolis insists Edinburgh won’t treat the tourney as an inferior competition and added: “It’s another opportunity to keep the momentum going.”

Meanwhile, Jason O’Halloran is sure Glasgow can box clever to KO Sale in Saturday’s Champions Cup clash at Scotstoun.

The Warriors No.2 said: “We will be the boxers and they will be the punchers.

“They probably think they can bully us.

“We probably think we can out-manoeuvre them with our pace and clever footwork.” SNOOKER: Scots stars Graeme Dott and Scott Donaldson eased through the first round of the Northern Ireland Open.

Dott beat Welsh ace Duane Jones 4-2 at Belfast’s Waterfont Hall, while Donaldson crushed veteran Alfie Burns 4-1.

John Higgins and Stephen Maguire are back in action today. ICE HOCKEY: Zack Fitzgerald wants Glasgow Clan to bounce back from Sunday’s 9-2 Elite League loss at Coventry Blaze when they host Cardiff Devils tonight.

Coach Fitzgerald said: “Sunday was tough to take – it seemed like every one of their chances they put it in the net. But there were positives despite the score, we’ll look to bounce back.”
