Coping with fatigue will help Dunc’s medal push

UPDATE

-

DUNCAN SCOTT reckons dealing with exhaustion at the European short-course championships can help him survive next summer’s Tokyo Olympics.

The Scot left Glasgow with two silvers from 13 races in five days, coming fifth in last night’s 100m freestyle in a Scottish record of 46.58 seconds then finishing fifth in the 100m individual medley.

But he insists the big win of the week was finding out where his limits lie ahead of a gruelling medal quest in Japan. Scott said: “I really challenged myself in a lot of events and have gone back to back and raced hard in the morning.

“I’ve surprised myself with some of the swims I’ve done in the morning.” BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks lost 88-72 at London Lions in their opening game of the new BBL season.

A game-high 24 points from Ali Fraser could not save Vincent Lavandier’s men who converted only two out of 17 three-point attempts. Coach Lavandier said “We made a lot of mistakes in the first half.”

But the row over London City Royals’ decision to call off their Saturday game will rumble on with Rocks set to refuse any application to replay the fixture.

It is understood the BBL did not sanction the cancellation in advance with Rocks officials insisting they will call for a forfeit and a points deduction. ICE HOCKEY: Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars crashed to home defeats on a night of disappointment for the Elite League rivals. Flyers lost 6-4 to Cardiff Devils in Kirkcaldy while Coventry Blaze won 5-3 on Tayside.
