Seoane: My Young Boys are down
YOUNG BOYS boss Gerardo Seoane admits his side will travel to Glasgow this week low on confidence ahead of their Europa League showdown with Rangers.
The Light Blues need just a point from their final game in the group on Thursday to qualify but the Swiss outfit must win at Ibrox.
Young Boys got back to winning ways at the weekend with a 1-0 victory against Lucerne at home through an own goal.
But Seoane admits his side have been far from their best.
He said: “We’ve not been attacking teams as much as we can and that’s a concern.”
STEVEN GERRARD insists linesman David Roome and his players have to share the responsibility for Rangers losing the Betfred Cup Final.
The Ibrox boss is adamant assistant referee Roome should have spotted at least one of three Celtic players – Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and scorer Christopher Jullien – in an offside position from Ryan Christie’s 60th-minute freekick that won Neil Lennon’s men their 10th trophy in a row.
But while admitting he was delighted with his team’s dominant display, Gerrard was gutted at their failure to convert a host of chances – including an Alfredo Morelos penalty shortly after Jullien’s goal.
The Rangers manager said: “I thought we were outstanding in terms of our performance. Everything we asked of the players today, in terms of how we approach it and what we wanted from them, to a man I can’t be much prouder of them.
“But finals are normally decided on big moments and the big moments haven’t gone in our favour today.
“We conceded from a setpiece which we shouldn’t have given away, there was no panic. Once you concede it you have to defend it better.
“There were three Celtic players standing in offside positions but unfortunately we play in a country where there is no VAR. It (VAR) has taken something away from the game so I’d be a liar if I said I’m 100 per cent in favour of it.
“But one thing I do know is the officials up here do need some support and help.
