Scott: Get over it and we can be Euro stars

-

SCOTT ARFIELD vowed to help ease Rangers’ cup final heartache by delivering European glory on Thursday night.

The midfielder and his teammates were gutted to lose 1-0 to Celtic yesterday despite dominating the Betfred Cup Final.

But the Canadian international insist Steven Gerrard’s players can’t feel sorry for themselves as they look to secure the point they need against Young Boys on Thursday to secure a Europa League last-32 spot.

Arfield said: “Everyone knows we should have won the Final and we are hurting as much as any fan that we have nothing to

BY GARY RALSTON show for our dominance. But the fact is we didn’t win it and we need to move on as quickly as possible.

“We will reflect for a couple of days but we have a huge schedule coming up and this can only be a bump in the road.

“We need to make sure Thursday is a better night for us. It would be huge to qualify against Young Boys, absolutely massive, and we need to give the fans something to shout about.”

Arfield refused to point the finger at Alfredo Morelos who had nine chances to score, including a penalty, but failed to net. He added: “Alfredo has dug us out of so many holes this season, he is a fantastic football player and a great character.

“Everybody misses penalties. We are all fully behind him but I don’t think he even needs that. He will bounce back for sure.

“In a couple of days we’ll take the positives from this and there will be plenty of them even if, at this minute, it is hard to see any.

“That’s the most comfortable we’ve looked against Celtic since I’ve been at the club and we believe our time will come.

“We should have won the trophy but the fact is we never so we move on to Thursday.”
