McAdam to the Aid in title push

-

LIAM HENDERSON may have been the two-goal hero for Edinburgh City but it was keeper Aidan McAdams who produced a man-of-the-match display against Cove.

McAdams made a series of outstanding saves in the top-of-the-table clash as City reduced Rangers’ lead to just two points with an impressive 2-1 victory.

But the modest goalie said: “While I was pleased with my contribution it was a real team effort – all the boys were excellent.

“It was clear in the first half the desire was there and over the 90 minutes we were the better team.

“We’re going in the right direction and pushing Cove all the way at the top.”

Edinburgh stormed into a 2-0 lead inside half an hour, both goals coming from powerful headers by Henderson. But Martin Scott’s 33rd-minute strike hauled the league leaders back into contention.

Shortly after Scott’s goal, McAdams produced a miraculous save, touching Scott Ross’ close-range header on to the bar.

The keeper was also outstanding during the second half as Cove bombarded his goal, with one save from Scott’s powerful effort breaking the hearts of away fans.

He said: “A clean sheet would have been nice but getting the three points is the most important thing.”

Cove scorer Scott was amazed his team took nothing from the game.

He said: “We made a lot of chances and their goalie had some great saves but losing two goals from setpieces was a killer blow.”

Elsewhere, keeper Lewis McMinn sealed Brechin’s
