Colts Stroll to another win

-

CUMBERNAULD Colts co-manager Craig McKinley hailed his side after they came away from Christie Gillies Park with all three points.

They beat Civil Service Strollers 3-2 and McKinley said: “It was a great win for us for Civil are a really good side and it’s a hard place to go to.

“It was a tough day, tough conditions, so overall I’m delighted to get the win.

“Civil have some good players and they beat us 2-0 at our place six weeks or so ago and to be honest they were by far the better team then.

“So to go there and play so well was really good. There were some tough battles and they threw everything at us in the second half. We got two up at the interval which was a good start and although they came back at us we thought it was a really good performance.

“We don’t get many wins there so it was terrific and it is three wins in a row for us which is important.

“We’ve got a bit of momentum going and we’re in the top half of the league, it was important to get a couple of back-to-back wins against some really good sides.”

The latest win keeps Colts tucked in behind the Lowland leaders and McKinley added: “It’s a hugely competitive division and to get three wins in a row is great. It’s also 10 goals in three games so we’ve got to be happy with that.”

Colts hit two in the first 20 minutes through Stephen O’Neill and Ross Cavanagh.

Strollers hit back in the second half through John Dunn but Cavanagh struck again with nine minutes left. Cammy Moorhead got a second for the home side late on.

Leaders Kelty Hearts stayed top of the table after a narrow 1-0 win over champions East Kilbride.

A tough affair saw four bookings for each side and Kelty won it with a 64thminute Scott Linton penalty.

Spartans came from 2-0 down to stun East Stirling 3-2 with nine men.

Nicky Low and a Michael Bolochoweckyj own goal put Shire in charge but Ian McFarland and Jack Smith levelled then deep into stoppage time Jake Davidson hit the winner.
