Ridiculous form of Kev means Pars stay happy

-

GREG KILTIE is happy to play second fiddle at Dunfermline for as long as Kevin Nisbet continues his “ridiculous” form.

Nisbet netted a double to down Morton and take his tally for the season to 18.

The striker’s retaken first-half penalty that gave the Pars the breakthrough was controversial but his clinching third six minutes was clinical.

In between Kiltie tapped into an open net before sub Reece Lyon threatened a Ton comeback by scoring with his first touch.

But Kiltie is convinced with Nisbet in the side the Fifers will always be a threat in attack. He said: “Kevin is in ridiculous form with the amount of goals he’s scored but I want a few thanks off him for assists.

“It’s really nice playing off him. After our third goal I said to him, ‘You’ve no idea how happy you’ve made me’.

“When we’re defending like that then you get a goal to kill the game, it’s brilliant.

“I just want to keep producing for the team whether that’s laying it off to somebody else or whether it’s scoring.

“As long as we keep winning it’s not about me scoring. I would happily pass it across the box for somebody else to tap it in. I’m not sure Kevin would to be honest. But as long as we’re winning I’m happy.”

Nisbet rolled in Dunfermline’s opener from the spot in the 22nd minute after Chris Millar was adjudged to have handled and keeper Danny Rogers was ruled to have come off his line too soon to save the striker’s first penalty.

Kiltie made it 2-0 early in the second half after Ton defender Peter Grant had cleared from Rogers’ hands straight to the winger.

Lyon swept in from 25 yards just a minute after his introduction and Morton pushed hard for an equaliser. But Nisbet curled in the clincher to earn the Fifers their third win in a week and a fifth straight home success to move third in the table.

Morton boss David Hopkin was bemused by ref Steven Kirkland’s decision to order the penalty to be retaken. But after an eighth consecutive away defeat in the league he admits there was more to their defeat.

He said: “We gave away the softest goal you’ll ever see. Danny makes a great save and he has the ball in his hands but Peter Grant decides to kick it out his hands.

“The players played well but we can’t give mistakes away and think we’re going to pick points up.”
