Cormack: We don’t need to sell players – and anyone who

DAVE CORMACK insists Aberdeen don’t need to sell any of their top stars in January.

The chairman, who took over from Stewart Milne at last night’s Annual General Meeting, confirmed the Dons aren’t looking to cash in on top stars such as Sam Cosgrove, Scott McKenna and Lewis Ferguson.

And Cormack claimed if any of their prize assets were to be sold then it would be on their terms and for top dollar.

He said: “We are under no pressure to sell anyone and we’ll only do that on our terms.

“It doesn’t matter what player it is, we don’t need to sell.

“Obviously, if there is a substantial return on a player and it makes sense for us then we would consider it. But we would only consider it after speaking to Derek McInnes and it makes sense for him, with his ins and outs for the window.

“We are all human beings, players have contracts and the like. In the case of Scott McKenna there has been interest but not to the level we wanted. Some clubs have felt like it’s just little Aberdeen so they will just accept a tiny wee offer.

“But we will sell players on our terms.

“You have to understand where the players are and what their considerations are.

“But that’s for Derek and the players, he is in charge of managing the guys in the dressing-room.” Milne was given a standing ovation by the shareholders after his 21 years of service at the Pittodrie helm.

Directors Gordon Buchan and Cormack were re-elected while new additions Tom Crotty and Darren Eales were voted on to the board.
