Taylor’s feline good Ex-Celtic star has a pop at Scandi journalist who called Glasgow ugly
TAYLOR Swift and Cats co-star Idris Elba bared their teeth and claws at the premiere of the hit musical’s big-screen makeover in New York.
BY NICHOLAS KEYDEN A FORMER Celtic star has blasted a Danish journalist who branded Glasgow “one of the three ugliest cities in Europe”.
Reporter Andres Kraul raised eyebrows online by taking a pop at Scotland’s biggest city after the Parkhead side drew FC Copenhagen in the last 32 of the Europa League.
His comments were quickly seized on by Denmark internationalist Erik Sviatchenko, who played for the Hoops between 2016 and 2018, making 43 appearances.
After Kraul compared Glasgow with run-down parts of Eastern Europe, the defender tweeted: “You clearly haven’t been around much.
“Have you been to the West End? Finnieston area? Take a walk along the river? Have a cup of coffee at Eusebi’s? And walk through beautiful Kelvingrove Park on a sunny day?”
Sviatchenko wasn’t the only one to blast the writer over his claims, with angry Scots taking branding his comments “absolute rubbish”.
Many of them shared pictures of sites such as Kelvingrove Gallery, Glasgow University and the Riverside Museum.
@GioGlasgow said: “The City who gave the world Thompson and Mackintosh. Framed by one of the worlds most spectacular landscapes. Sure, mate... my guess is you’ve never been.”
And @OldRussia simply posted: “Don’t talk s***e.”
Kraul backtracked by replying to Sviatchenko, who now plays for FC Midtjylland in his homeland, saying “fair call” before ending his tweet with the hashtag JusticeForGlasgow. He followed that up by saying: “I still love Glasgow. You don’t have to be beautiful to be loved.”
