BIG DUNC TO BE A TOFFEES NO.2

-

CARLO ANCELOTTI will appoint Duncan Ferguson and his son Davide as his assistants when he takes over at Everton.

Ancelotti met Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri in London yesterday for his first faceto-face talks with the Blues about becoming manager.

Although this was positive, it’s understood there is some work still to do before Everton can confirm the three-time Champions League winning manager as Marco Silva’s successor.

Ancelotti – sacked by Napoli after guiding them into the last 16 of the Champions League – and Everton have settled on his backroom staff and the Italian has agreed to give Ferguson a prominent role.

The Toffees hierarchy

have been hugely impressed by the way the Scot has galvanised the team in his two games in caretaker charge.

Ferguson re-connected the team with the fans and the club want to preserve this under the new boss.

Ancelotti, 60, will bring in his son Davide, who has worked with him since being appointed as PSG’s fitness coach in 2012.

Davide held the same position at Real Madrid before becoming his father’s assistant at his last two clubs, Bayern Munich and Napoli.

Ancelotti is not expected to take charge until Everton’s home Boxing Day clash with Burnley because he is yet to agree a severance package with Napoli.

Talks could take a few days and Everton will leave Ferguson in caretaker charge for Saturday’s home clash with Arsenal.

Moshiri is willing to make Ancelotti one of the highestpaid managers in Europe.

Everton are prepared to give him a three-and-a-half year deal that could be worth a reported annual £11.5million.

Moshiri has also pledged substantial funds to assemble a squad capable of challenging for honours and European football.
