Frimpong will be our next £25m player

SCOTT BROWN last night backed Jeremie Frimpong to follow in the footsteps of Celtic’s £25million man Kieran Tierney.

Frimpong has made a magnificen­t start to his Celtic career with a string of man-of-thematch displays since signing for

£350,000 from Man City four months ago and Brown believes his instant impact at the age of 19 is similar to Tierney’s arrival on to the top-team scene.

Celtic sold Tierney for a club-record fee to Arsenal after four sensationa­l full years of first-team service and reckons Frimpong is cut from the same cloth as the Scotland star.

Brown said: “I don’t think there’s been anyone apart from him and Kieran who have broken into the team at that age and done that well in such a short amount of time. He (Frimpong) will be worth serious money in a few years. The main aim for us is to keep improving him.

“Kieran is the template for everyone that’s come through. His attitude and love for the club as well.

“Jeremie has that energy and that smile. He is just a great guy. There isn’t a single person who has a bad word to say about him. He’s got that energy he brings out and that laughter.

“There’s no catch with him. He’s just very, very good and is only going to get better. Every game he’s played he’s been man of the match. You look around the park and just think he’s going to get MoM no matter what.

“He is (incredible value for money). There’s no other way you can put it.”
