Aberdeen are braver against Old Firm

-

JOE LEWIS feels Aberdeen are back showing bravery against the Old Firm.

The Dons made Celtic fight all the way for their victory just 17 days after hauling Rangers back from 2-0 up to earn a draw.

Both performances were a huge improvement on their first two encounters against the Glasgow pair this term as they shipped nine goals without reply in two hammerings.

Lewis says it’s down to bottle on the ball and said: “When you play good teams you need to keep the ball when you win it. If you don’t you are asking for trouble.

“We suffered two heavy defeats earlier in the season and we didn’t have that composure when we won the ball.

“There wasn’t that first short pass and people willing to take the ball under pressure.

“At Celtic and in the home game against Rangers, we had that. We have been braver on the ball in the last two games against the Old Firm.

“We didn’t in the first half hour against Rangers and we were just launching balls up the pitch.

“You can’t press teams high when you do that, but at Celtic we had bravery on the ball and it helped us.

“We were able to get up the pitch and defend slightly higher than when you just launch it.” Despite their bold effort, the Dons left with nothing and, although Lewis had no complaints over Celtic’s winner from Odsonne Edouard, there was dejection at the loss of the opener to Christopher Jullien. He added: “Celtic can score good goals against you, like their second but the first was disappointing.”
