SCOTT BURNS AT PITTODRIE to get back but the midfielder laid it off perfectly to the on-coming McLennan and his shot deflected off Ricki Lamie as it flew high into the net.

It seemed to calm Dons but despite having a lot of the ball they struggled to turn that domination in to chances.

Hedges swung in a cross that Ferguson headed over just after the half-hour, while Livi’s best chance came minutes before the interval.

Frontman Aymen Souda played a great ball to Scott Pittman and, as he raced in to space, he knocked the ball past Joe Lewis but couldn’t outrun the rest of the home side’s defence.

The Dons sent on Jon

Gallagher in 58 minutes and he set McGinn up on the break but his weak shot was well blocked by Lamie.

Dykes, who scored Livi’s first top-level hat-trick in their last game, had a chance but fired well wide from the edge of the box.

Curtis Main had the perfect chance to shine when McGinn sent in a decent cross but he headed wide.

Livi tried to push and sent on Chris Erskine for Craig Sibbald with 10 minutes left and the sub had an early chance when Lawless crossed but his header was high and wide.

Livi were edging back in to it before Lamie misjudged a header and allowed sub Anderson to race in and slot the ball coolly off the keeper’s left-hand post.

It looked to be over but the Almondvale men pulled a goal back four minutes from time when Dykes managed to knock in Lawless’s cross.

But Aberdeen dug in and held on for what could be three vital points.
