WILDER: I WILL NOT MENTION OLI’S JACKET

-

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Chris Wilder has given Oli McBurnie a dressing down about his behaviour – and his fashion sense.

Wilder has spoken to the Blades’ record £20million signing after the FA warned him about his conduct because he was pictured making a rude gesture to Cardiff City fans at Sunday’s South Wales derby.

McBurnie was sitting with fans from his former club Swansea and Wilder was more bothered by the striker’s garish gold £450 Stone Island jacket.

“I’ve spoken to him,” said Wilder. “We received a letter from the FA talking about Oli’s future conduct, which is quite right I believe.

“They’re red hot on stuff like that so for them not to take any other action speaks volumes for what it was.

“I should imagine he got plenty at that game.

“He didn’t really go in camouflage – I’m not mentioning the jacket, that’s already been done!

“People have talked

BY DAVID ANDERSON about it. It’s not something I would wear. He managed, in his opinion, to carry it off.

“We’ve talked about it and he has a responsibility as a footballer, especially with all the cameras everywhere, that he can’t get involved.”

Wilder claims it’s positive that McBurnie, who netted the winner against West Ham last Friday, still follows Swansea and he used to watch his beloved Blades when he was at other clubs.

“I can relate to that,” he said. “There was a time when I was a player and a manager at other clubs, I would rush back to Sheffield to go and watch United or away from home.

“I’ve got no problem with him going to watch Swansea.

“He’s got an obvious connection with them from when he was a young player going down there.

“He made many great friends, so I’ve got no problem with that.”
