We won’t face Jags in the Lyons den

Montrose’s on-loan Partick duo fear play-off hell FALKIRK v MONTROSE

-

BLAIR LYONS clinched his dream full-time move in January only to be left with a potential play-off nightmare come what May.

But the Montrose loan striker says he’s seen enough in less than four weeks training at Partick Thistle to believe he won’t be caught in the middle of an end-of-season tug of war.

Lyons left Links Park for the Jags on a two-and-a-half-year deal last month only to be sent straight back until the summer.

Three goals in his last two games have left the Gable Endies a point outside the play-off places as Thistle remain rooted to the foot of the table above.

Victory at second-placed Falkirk, the first of four games in 11 days that could define their season, could propel Montrose into the promotion mix.

Midfielder Mouhamed Niang, known as Sena, also splits his time between Firhill and Links Park, having been sent out on loan by Thistle.

And asked about the prospect of his two sides crossing paths, Lyons said: “I’ve thought about it a lot, to be honest.

“But I’m under the impression my parent club Thistle will get themselves out of it. Training with them every day, you can see that they’re good enough.

“It is just one of those things where nothing seems to go your way and they can’t seem to get the rub of the green.

“But hopefully that isn’t the case because at Montrose we’re pushing to make the play-offs, so it would be a bad situation for me anyway if they happen to be in the play-offs against us.

“I think me and Sena would be the same, we wouldn’t be allowed to play – which would be annoying because you’ve worked so hard all season at Montrose to get to there.

“Then you don’t even know who you want to win in the end. It’s a lose-lose really – you can’t win!”

Falkirk defender Ben Hall is also seeking some stability after his arrival at the Bairns in the January window.

The 23-year-old Northern Irishman was sitting in Glasgow Airport ready to fly back home to sign for Derry City when a call came through from Falkirk co-manager Lee Miller.

Hall said: “It was stressful deciding whether I was going to go home or stay here.

“I took the opportunity to stay here and I am hoping it pays off.”
