Lenny hails his French fliers

- BY CRAIG SWAN

NEIL LENNON last night praised leader Christopher Jullien and livewire Odsonne Edouard after their excellence in Europe. But the Celtic boss has been left sweating on the fitness of skipper Scott Brown. French double act Jullien, left, and

Edouard were major contributors on Thursday night as the Hoops took a step towards the Europa League last 16 with a 1-1 draw at Copenhagen.

On Jullien, Lennon said: “He was immense. He had a great game and headed everything he possibly could. His attitude and will to win were a real show of character away from home – he’s been superb.

“He’s got leadership qualities and has that presence as well.”

While Jullien was rock solid at the back, Edouard bagged the crucial away goal – reaching 25 for the season – in Denmark.

The Hoops boss added: “It was a brilliant move for his goal and a lovely finish.

“I thought he might have done that with his first chance too and dinked it.

“That’s his 25th goal of the season and he’s a special player. You can’t compare him to Henrik (Larsson), you can’t compare him to anybody. He’s his own individual.

“A real quality striker and I love working with him. There are things he does that make your jaw drop.

“At times he does things that are totally unexpected. It may prove to be a really important goal. He doesn’t get disappointed if he misses – he waits for the next one and puts it away.

“His finishing has got a lot better over the past couple of years.”

But Brown limping off 17 minutes from time serves as a setback.

Lennon said: “He felt something in his calf when he stretched. It’s not like him to come off.

“He will be assessed then we’ll know more.”

Celtic aim to maintain their 10-point lead at the league summit tomorrow.

Kilmarnock lost a 4-3 Scottish Cup thriller to Aberdeen but Lennon said: “They scored goals in midweek and obviously beat Rangers. They are tough opposition and we will have to be very wary.”
