Couple party special night away

- BY MAGDALENE DALZIEL

PAIGE and Finn were at the centre of the fun as the Love Island contestants partied into the small hours after Sunday night’s finale. The couple were on top of the world after being crowned champions of the Cape Town villa in an emotionally charged last episode, beating favourites Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman to bag the £50,000 prize.

Paige told show host Laura Whitmore that it had been “such an amazing experience” and “filled with challenges”.

Pressed on what he loved about Paige, Finn revealed he had been struck by her humour, saying: “She makes me laugh.”

Homegrown fans have been flooding social media to wish the happy couple well – but there was nothing from Paige’s ex, Brit Award-winner Lewis Capaldi.

Leading the congratulations last night were the 22-year-old’s work pals at Forty Clothing in Glasgow.

They tweeted: “We’re so proud of our girl and Finley Tapp on winning Love Island. Congrats and can’t wait to see you back in bonnie Scotland!”

Previous Love Island runner-up and fellow Scot Laura Anderson also joined in, posting on Instagram: “The first SCOT to WIN! My love...”

And the rest of this year’s crop marked the end of the series in style with show narrator Iain Stirling, his partner, host Laura, and the rest of the production crew.

After the cameras stopped rolling, they wasted no time getting stuck into the booze and there was lots of laughter and dancing across Instagram as the party got into full swing.

Laura flooded her social media with snaps from inside the bash. The presenter got all the islanders together in their finery for a very glam group photo. She also had fun posing with Paige and Finn as they larked about in the dressing room.

After being handed a share of the cash, Finn told Laura it would be sensibly spent securing a flat with Paige in Manchester.

Delighted Laura asked if she should be buy a hat – for a wedding – to which Finn replied “yes”.

But despite the party atmosphere, the final was tinged with sadness as Laura led a moving tribute to the show’s original host Caroline Flack.

After some words from Laura, who told viewers how Caroline had “loved to love”, a montage was played of some of Caroline’s best moments.

The TV presenter, 40, took her own life a week before the series finale.

It led to calls for the show to be axed but Laura last night confirmed the show will return in the summer.
