Bill ‘buzzing’ as he joins pal on GMB

BY MARK JEFFERIES BILL Turnbull was “buzzing” to be back on live breakfast TV and said he feels good “80 per cent of the time” despite having prostate cancer.

The much-loved 64-yearold presenter was reunited with former BBC Breakfast co-host Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain yesterday.

Bill, standing in for Piers Morgan, told viewers: “I can’t believe this is happening.”

After GMB ended, Bill, who will be hosting until tomorrow, said: “I was holding on to Susanna’s coat tails. Eventually, I was able to relax into it and feel more comfortabl­e. I am buzzing, really.”

Bill left BBC Breakfast in 2016 and was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017. He went public with the news in March 2018.

BY DAVE FINLAY THE family of a man killed with one punch yesterday branded his killer an “animal” as he was jailed.

Thomas Allan was sentenced to five years and four months in prison at the High Court of Edinburgh for causing the death of Jason Haig.

After sending Jason crashing to the floor over a dispute while playing pool, the callous thug returned to take a sip of his pint.

Yesterday, Jason’s daughter Lauren said of Allan: “He winked at us after he got his sentencing.

“That shows how much of an animal he is.

“My dad was an amazing man, a family man, strong man, and he was broken by the death of his brother and this man did what he did when my dad was at his lowest.”

A judge told Allan, a chef from Govan in Glasgow: “Your conduct was deplorable and despicable.”

Lord Mulholland said he had shown no concern for the victim and demonstrat­ed a “continuing animus” towards him after the fatal blow was struck on Jason, 45.

Allan was heard to say: “He better stay down or I will put him f ***** g back down.”
