We’re in for a world of suffering

Frank issues a warning to kids

FRANK LAMPARD has told his Chelsea young guns they’ll have to suffer to put the shackles on Robert Lewandowski and Co.

A youthful Blues team face the biggest night of their careers as fivetimes European Cup winners Bayern Munich visit for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Lewandowski has scored 42 goals this season while Munich smashed Spurs 7-2 in the group stage.

Lampard captained Chelsea when they beat Bayern in the 2012 Final.

Now in charge of the team, he said: “We’ve got players with Champions League experience in this group as well as younger players in the early stages of their careers, particularly in the Champions League.

“Bayern Munich are an incredible side with the ball. They’ve got some really talented players who keep the ball and use the ball well.

“If we have to suffer, we have to suffer. That’s our job over the next two games.”

Chelsea were boosted by a 2-1 win at home to Spurs on Saturday, albeit Lampard has called for his team to raise their levels even further.

He said: “We must make sure every box is ticked in both games.

“We can’t get caught up in game moments. I trust all the young players who have been part of the squad this year. That’s a huge part of what we do here.

“The reason I trust them is because of the way they play, the way they train. I will speak to them.

“They’ve played big games but it changes slightly when you get to the knockout stage.”

While Chelsea won on Saturday, Antonio Rudiger was booed by away fans after Spurs and police found no evidence to support his allegation he was racially abused against the same opposition in December.

The 26-year-old defender said “racism has won” before Spurs yesterday reiterated their support for him and said they would revisit their investigation should any new evidence come to light.

Germany team-mate Joshua Kimmich, in a Bayern shirt tonight, said: “It’s a shame that some spectators use football to voice their racism. We players should not stop being strong on that. It’s important for Toni to speak out.”
