JEN Atkin was dumped by her fiance because she was overweight.

Instead of feeling sorry for herself she got in shape and has just been crowned Miss Great Britain.

That’s some way to have the last laugh over your ex.

queen who was dumped by her fiance for being “too fat” has been crowned Miss Great Britain.

Jen Atkin had the last laugh after shedding 8st – going from 17st 9lb to 9st 5lb in two years – and has now been named the country’s most beautiful woman.

Jen, 26, from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, said: “When we broke up, I was devastated but it ended up being the best thing that’s happened to me.”

She says that being chucked spurred her on to slim down from a size 22 to a size 10.

Jen weighed 14st 7lb when they met in March 2011 and admitted becoming “a weekend recluse”, dining on expensive takeaways.

The couple planned to marry in the years that followed but as her weight grew to more than 17st in 2015, her partner left.

She said: “The day he left I thought my world had ended. I cried for weeks and used food as my comfort.”

Jen, whose twin brother Sam runs for Great Britain over 3000m, eventually signed up to her local gym and has never looked back.

She won the longest-running pageant in the UK at a national final in Leicester on Friday.

After being named the 75th Miss Great Britain, Jen said: “I’m still in shock at winning, I’m so happy I can’t even put it into words – I honestly can’t believe it.

“When I started doing this it was just for a bit of fun, I never imagined how far I would come.

“Winning Miss Great Britain marks the end of a long and difficult, but also amazing, journey.”

The office administrator, who has married after finding love again, said: “Although my body has changed, I don’t think my personality has.

“The judges were able to see what kind of person I really am.”
