SCHWARZER: ROGIC MUST QUIT CELTS

-

SOCCEROOS legend Mark Schwarzer has claimed Tom Rogic should bite the bullet and quit Celtic for the good of his career.

The Australian maestro has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Neil Lennon after suffering a serious knee injury last season.

And former Chelsea keeper Schwarzer believes Parkhead is now not the right fit for his compatriot and that his form for the national side is suffering as a result.

Schwarzer, who also doubled down on his stance that Socceroos kid Daniel Arzani should never have joined Celtic, reckons Rogic would blossom in the Bundesliga.

He said: “The criticism we all have is that for the national team, Rogic doesn’t seem to be able to deliver 90 minutes of consistency like he can for Celtic.

“Some players aren’t able to transfer club form into national form. We’ve seen glimpses. When he performs for 45 minutes you go ‘wow, what a player’.

“I look at Celtic and they have dominated the league for so long now. Yes they have some tough games, I just don’t think he is tested

“From a tactical point of view, I don’t think he is tested enough because of the opposition they play every week.

“He would do well in the Bundesliga – that would be a perfect league for him. He wouldn’t be at Bayern Munich or a Dortmund or RB Leipzig. He’ll be a mid-table team so you’re facing far better opposition.

“The time when Rogic gets tested the most, as with other Celtic players, is when they play in Europe and it’s do-or-die.

“I’m not saying the teams he’d go to are better than Celtic, they’re just in a more competitive league.”

Arzani, who joined Celts on a two-year loan from Manchester City, has been on the fringes of the first team, largely due to a horror knee injury.

And Schwarzer, who criticised the move back in September, reiterated his belief that it was never going to work out for him.

He said: “I said straight away, ‘I think it’s the wrong move.’ I don’t think Celtic’s style of play suits him or the right environment for him to develop.”
