I blanked snipers to go with Flo

-

STEVEN GERRARD revealed he was warned to steer clear of Florian Kamberi – now he’s banking on him driving Rangers to European glory.

The Rangers boss has told how critics questioned the professionalism and attitude of the Hibs loanee but he’s glad he ignored their opinion.

Kamberi will lead the line in Braga tonight in the absence of Alfredo Morelos.

He put in a stunning performance as a half-time sub at St Johnstone, scoring one and setting up another, and Gerrard insists he can trust him to deliver again.

He said: “It is important to say Flo deserves his start in this team on merit and what he has brought and contributed since coming in.

“We heard a lot of things on the grapevine about Flo before he arrived, about the character and the boy, and I must say it is completely different to what I have seen and experienced in the couple of weeks he has been in the door.

“He’s the ultimate professional, in great shape. It goes without saying he’s going to play because of the situation we are in, so he is going to have to be selfless but so are all the team.

“We are going to have to run hard for each other and leave everything on this pitch.”

‘Joe Lewis claims Aberdeen lost to Ross County because they were tired. I work in a factory, he doesn’t know what hard work is’

know why Rangers fans are pinning their hopes on winning the Scottish Cup as by the time the final is played the league will be over and it would be very much a consolation prize.”

said: “Gerrard’s central defenders are the worst in Scotland, our midfield is nonexistent. When it comes to tactics he doesn’t have a clue and makes his changes too late.”

said: “People are complaining about Gerrard naming and shaming players for bad performances but what’s the problem? He is their boss and are they are well paid.”

said: “Rangers fans were arrogant after the last Glasgow derby and are getting what they deserve. They forget Celtic were in a slump at the time. The real Celtic are back and revenge day at Ibrox is coming.”

said: “I always love to read that Celtic and Rangers are locked in a signing battle for a player as it’s a win-win for Celtic. They always choose Rangers and it’s obviously due to lack of confidence in their ability – that’s why they recruit so many duds.”

said: caller Chris Lowe’s comments are hysterical. He claims ref Kevin Clancy is due a league winner’s medal for assisting Celtic at the weekend but how exactly? Was it by giving Kilmarnock a penalty when player was offside then incorrectly chalking off a fantastic fourth goal for Celtic?”

And finally... said: “Aberdeen keeper Joe Lewis claims they lost against Ross County because they were tired after 120 minutes at Killie and being asked to play four days later. I work in a factory for eight hours a day, five days a week. Give us peace Joe, you don’t know what hard work is.”
