Hearts aren’t top trumps yet

BARRY FERGUSON has warned Kelty’s players and fans there’s still a big job to be done before the title’s won.

The Maroon Machine put a six-point gap between them and second-placed Bonnyrigg Rose, the league’s newest side, with a 3-2 win.

But Fergie refused to say the race for the flag is over and demanded his side remained in full focus.

He said: “I’m delighted with this win and three points which is a big boost but Rose have a game in hand and we’ve still got to go there.

“We’ve got a lot of tough matches coming up and we know this was in no way a title decider.

“It was a good game and good result but that’s all. We’ve been on a great run but we’re taking it one game at a time.”

Kelty’s Ross Philip opened the scoring in 17 minutes but Rose struck back two minutes later through Lee Currie.

A stunning strike from Dylan Easton then restored the New Central Park men’s lead and Nathan Austin made it 3-1 before the break.

Rose’s George Hunter pulled one back but Kelty held on for a massive three points.

Elsewhere, Caledonian Braves pulled off a 3-1 win over East Stirling. Neil McLaughlin put Braves ahead in five minutes but Low equalised eight minutes later.

Then six minutes after the re-start McLaughlin headed home the second and Ross McNeill grabbed a third.

Edinburgh Uni grabbed a vital point in a 2-2 draw with champions East Kilbride.

Paul Woods put Kilby ahead and Patrick Baird levelled only to see Ricky Miller restore EK’s lead. Josh Bennington got the vital equaliser in 83 minutes.

Gala Fairydean Rovers ran riot in the second half to stun Civil Service Strollers 4-0. Gareth Rodger, Scott Taylor Mackenzie, Alex Chingwalu and Jacob Campbell netted.

Stirling Uni’s third-minute goal from Jamie Penker was enough to beat Gretna 1-0.

Dalbeattie Star’s clash with Berwick was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
