No change of boss but how about a change of tactics?

YOU can never please all fans all of the time but I firmly believe an overwhelming majority are behind Steven Gerrard.

A change of attitude from the players and tactics in certain games would be positive though.

I listened to coach Michael Beale’s recent interview in which he said the 4-3-3 being used is a system for all weathers.

But when you go to Gorgie for a third time this season and play the exact same way as the previous two winless games, it suggests coaching staff are slaves to their system.

Those of us brought up with Walter Smith remember him going 4-4-2 and I would like to see Gerrard switch to that set-up in domestic matches.

When the domestic pressure is on, this squad crumble. And they will continue to come up short until this mentality issue is sufficiently addressed.

It was interesting to hear Ryan Kent say after the beautiful performance in Braga that it was easier in Europe as they are the underdog while the pressure to win domestically makes it more difficult.

But you need a strong mentality to deal with that and Gerrard must either instil it in the squad or find players in the summer who can handle it.

One thing that did worry me was Gerrard’s post-match interview at Hearts and while he can be bone-cutting honest at times, he is either praising the players to the hilt or throwing them under the bus.

There is no middle ground in his post-match duties. Gerrard, almost two seasons in, speaks like a captain who has left everything out there while his team-mates have let him down.
