Besotted Michele reveals triple killer inmate’s lung cancer diagnosis blunder

Michele German was heartbroken to discover her lover had been diagnosed with lung cancer and launched a fundraising appeal to pay for flights to see him.
John Lotter is on death row for his role in three murders and a rape in Richardson County, Nebraska.
But 46-year-old gran Michele, from West Lothian, received the news during a phone call late on Tuesday night that John had been wrongly diagnosed.
She has now ended her GoFundMe page she set up to try raise enough money to visit her beau in prison.
She said: “The doctors made a wrong diagnosis too quickly and it’s not lung cancer that he has.”
The gran of four has now updated the fundraising page and thanked those who donated £100 toward her original £2000 target. She

Michele told the Record how she first became “obsessed” with Lotter, 48, after seeing his face on the news following his sentencing in 1996.
After years of following his story, she eventually wrote to him in 2017 before making their relationship official last year.
The former carer also told how she would marry Lotter “in a heartbeat” and firmly believes he is innocent of crimes he has been jailed for.
Lotter was put on death row after a jury found him guilty of raping and murdering transgender man Brandon Teena, 21, and of shooting dead Lisa Marie Lambert, 24, and Phillip DeVine, 19.
The horror killings took place at a farmhouse in Humboldt, Nebraska, on New Year’s Eve in 1992. Lotter’s co-accused, Tom Nissen, gave testimony against his former drinking buddy in exchange for being spared the death sentence.
He recanted his testimony and took responsibility for the crimes in 2007 but the American Supreme Court ruled this did not clear Lotter of any wrongdoing.
He remains on death row at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, where he regularly speaks to his Scots girlfriend on the phone and via email.
