MAGS This flavour completely exceeded my expectations and would definitely be a welcome addition to the range. Kirsten feared there would be hints of ice-cream floats from summers of her childhood (which would be no bad thing for some people, including her showbiz partner in crime, (AKA me) but even she agreed this a nice twist to the traditional Irn-Bru taste. Think Irn-Bru with a hint of cream soda – but in a good way.
KIRSTEN I was expecting a really artificial vanilla flavour but this one was actually quite subtle and I was pleasantly surprised. I would drink this one with lots of ice though. I do like sweet things – maybe more fruity sweet than sugary sweet but this was absolutely fine. RATING 6/10
MAGS This was the option both of us were most excited about. We thought it sounded summery but not too sickly sweet and we were proved completely right when it came to the taste test. It’s just the normal Irn-Bru taste with a tropical kick, so even if the sun isn’t shining here come summer, it’ll taste like it is. I’m willing to bet lots of money that this one makes it to the final flavours. Move over lilt, you’re not needed anymore, pal.
KIRSTEN I thought this one was the best out of them all. It almost has an energy drink vibe to it and I really liked it – it’s a bit more tangy than the original stuff. I could see myself drinking this with an alcoholic drink and also consoling my sore head with it the next day. Irn-Bru is a huge hangover cure for me but it needs to be freezing cold. I’ll be buying this one for sure.
MAGS I was a bit apprehensive about this one. Nothing against candy floss but there’s a time and a place for it and we don’t think Irn-Bru is it. It’s a smart move by AG Barr to offer up this flavour as it’s basically like drinking a bottle of unicorns in liquid form, and unicorns are very popular at the moment. So it would probably fly off the shelves if it became a permanent addition. I thought it was sweet but inoffensive and not as bad as I expected it to be. -1/10
