I’ve got a bad case of youth ache

Darts kids are making Gaz feel old

-

GARY ANDERSON says constantly trying to fend off the darts pups is making him feel old.

The Scot turns 50 at the end of this year and is battling week on week with the game’s new breed.

World youth champion Luke Humphries will be the latest youngster trying to bite Anderson’s ankles at tonight’s Unibet Premier League event in Exeter.

The two-time world champion is tackling boys who call him their idol and he said: “It’s nice but it makes you feel old when these kids say that.

“The players coming through are cracking. Luke Humphries is another one but I’ll be trying hard to beat him.

“Let’s face it, if I was

BY CRAIG SWAN playing against my granny I’d be trying to beat her.

“Unfortunately I can’t do it as well as I used to. Some of it last week against Rob Cross was pretty good and some of it was awful. But it was nice to scrape a win.

“I’m still making mistakes but there are times that the throw is working and it will come good.

“It’s going well on the practice board and I want to take it up on stage.

“My darts are getting a bit better week by week. Last week wasn’t quite as good but that was down to the person throwing them.”

Gerwyn Price reckons he’s on a roll going into Exeter after a stunning seven days.

The Iceman destroyed world champion Peter Wright in Dublin then claimed the first European Tour title of the year and the inaugural Belgian Darts Championship.

The Welshman believes his game is coming right at the ideal time with the OK Open getting under way in Minehead after tonight’s Premier League matches.

Price, who faces Glen Durrant in Exeter, said: “I think my checkouts this weekend kept me in the games.

“I hit some big shots when I needed them most to change the way some games were going.

“I played pretty well all the way through the tournament so hopefully I can keep this form going into the Premier League and UK Open.”
