We’re ready for French challenge

-

The ScoTland Women’s team is busy in preparation to make the French connection this weekend.

In the latest round of The Six Nations, they take on France on Saturday at Scotstoun, Glasgow, at 7.45pm.

And under the training of head coach Philip Doyle, the women are taking this year’s Six Nations in their stride.

Even a postponed match against Italy due to the coronavirus hasn’t put them off their game and all the players are keeping a strong focus thanks to the guidance of their head coach.

Philip’s wingman is assistant coach Bryan Easson – a former player who brings all his experience to the team having coached at National U20, U18 and U16 levels.

A determined attitude and a new training plan is proving a success for Scotland Women.

Scotland Squad Captain Rachel Malcolm believes the team has grown up a lot since last year’s tournament.

Rachel said: “It’s more about performances and improving every game – being more consistent and closing the gap against better sides.”

This outstanding openside flanker made her Scotland Women debut as a replacement in the first Women’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier against Spain at Scotstoun Stadium in November 2016.

She started in the Women’s Six Nations opener against Ireland at Broadwood Stadium in 2017, but sustained and injury that sidelined her for the rest of the campaign.

It’s an important game against France at Scotstoun and Scotland Women know a win will give them the confidence they need to take on Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, March 15.

You can watch Scotland take on France, with tickets costing £15 for adults, £5 for under-18s and kids under 12 can get in for only £1 if accompanied by a paying adult.
