I CON DO A JOB STEVE

ABERDEEN v HIBS

He added: “On paper we have an incredible squad and a brilliant group of boys. We’re getting a second crack at the Euros and hopefully we can take it.

“We’ll lose out on two top centre-halves with John Souttar and Scott but there is still plenty in reserve and I feel we have enough to get there.”

Considine has played at the lower age groups and was part of the squad who got to the Under-20 World Cup in Canada 13 years ago.

He said: “I didn’t play the first game when we lost to Japan 3-0 but I played against Nigeria and Costa Rica and then straight back on the plane.

“It was an incredible experience to be coached by Archie

Gemmill and Tommy Wilson. We had some players in that squad with Mark Reynolds, Steven Fletcher, Lee Wallace and Robert Snodgrass. We’d a lot of boys who have gone on to have fantastic careers.” The 32-year-old defender believes he has got better with experience and is in the form of his life. Considine said: “Over the last five or six years I have felt I’ve been consistent and playing week in week out helps. “Ideally I’d like to be playing centrehalf but I’ve been filling that void at left-back for a while now.

“My football has been consistent and has got better as I’ve got older. I’m a lot wiser, I let the ball do a lot more work and I’m a bit more streetwise.

“When you’re younger you rush into challenges. I’m reading the game a lot better and I have improved positionally but that comes from experience.”

He also has had the added bonus of plenty of exposure on the European stage and believes he has kicked on, like Aberdeen, under McInnes.

Considine added “I’ve had good experience with the European games. If I’m being honest the Aberdeen squad has been getting better and it helps me that I’m playing with better players.”

The immediate concern for Considine is to get Aberdeen back to winning ways and back into the hunt for third spot. The Dons have lost their last four home league games and Considine knows they need to get their act together when Hibs visit today.

He said: “It’s not like us. We need to bring that home form back to give the punters something to cheer about.

“Hibs is huge for us. They’ve improved under Jack Ross and especially going forward they’re a massive threat so we will need to be on our toes.

“If we get the right result then it will set us up for the Motherwell game.”
