F1 closes doors for Bahrain

UPDATE

-

THE Bahrain Grand Prix will be staged behind closed doors.

The second round of the Formula One season, from March 20-22, will be a “participants-only event” due to the coronavirus outbreak say organisers.

It’s the latest setback to F1 after the Chinese Grand Prix, scheduled to take place in Shanghai in April, was postponed indefinitely. TENNIS: Top seed Sofia Kenin won the first Lyon Open by battling to a threeset victory over Germany’s Anna-Lena Friedsam.

The Australian Open champion secured the fifth title of her career with a 6-2 4-6 6-4 success – securing the first set inside 25 minutes.

Unseeded Friedsam fought back to level the match before American Kenin, 21, reasserted her authority to clinch victory. BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks held off Worcester Wolves 91-86 in an overtime thriller to move into first place in the BBL.

Greg Pryor hit 20 points for the Scots who finished the extra period with an 11-2 run to claim top spot for the first time in 12 years.

Rocks captain Gareth Murray said: “It’s a big win. We get the head-to-head – and even more confidence that we can cope with high-pressure situations.

“It all comes down to our defence. When we trust in it, good things happen.” ICE HOCKEY: Dundee Stars crashed to their second defeat of the weekend as they lost 3-2 at Coventry Blaze in the Elite League.

Stars were looking to hit back after crashing 4-3 to Glasgow Clan at home on Saturday night.

But a goal in the dying seconds from Luke Ferrara sealed the win for Blaze.
