VINCENT: YOU CAN’TSTOPUS
JAMES VINCENT reckons Inverness are the team that keep coming back for more.
The past Scottish Cup matchwinner, now in his second spell with the Highlanders, knows the club have taken knocks on a regular basis this season.
But whether it’s injuries, big names departing or baffling performance slumps, the midfielder would always tip them to bounce back.
After Saturday’s defeat at Alloa, Inverness created a four-point gap on thirdtop Dundee with a 3-1 home win over Queen of the South on Tuesday.
Vincent, back in the side after an ankle injury, said: “Second place is where we want to be. We’ll just look after ourselves a game at a time, we don’t worry about anyone else.
“We had the defeat at the weekend but the one thing we have always been good at is bouncing back.
“We put on a good show on Tuesday and the win puts us into the position we want to be in.
“It leaves us in good shape going into the next game, a toughie away to Arbroath.
“We’ve had our share of adversity in one shape or e another but we always come back for more. We’ve been consistent more often than not and we’ve shown we are resilient.
“We’ve fought back when we’ve gone down which is credit to the boys.
“It’s the atmosphere we set here among all the players and staff.
“It will stand us in good stead coming into the end of the season.”
Vincent, who netted a rare header for the opening goal against Queens, added: “We want to do well this year, to get promoted, we have the consistency to keep pushing away.
“Arbroath are good opposition, a hard-working team. And we have to match that if we want to get anything this weekend.
“Hopefully our quality can come through and we can get the win.”
