Treble yell for KT in Gunners KO
KIERAN TIERNEY has revealed he dislocated his shoulder THREE times during a heartbreaking clash with West Ham.
The Scotland defender was injured when he joined Arsenal from Celtic last summer but soon got back to full fitness and established himself in the first team.
However, Tierney’s attempt to play through the pain of a shoulder injury backfired in December’s derby with the Hammers.
The 22-year-old said: “The
BY ALEX WOOD night at West Ham when I knew I needed the operation was a hard one.
“A dislocated shoulder in maybe the first 10 or 15 minutes. And straight away you know what you’ve done.
“Then it was another 10 minutes, I did the same kind of thing, I landed differently.
“Then it was a set-piece and my arm just went in a position that wasn’t comfortable and dislocated.
“It was heartbreaking because in my head I was like, ‘I need an operation now,’ as if I knew.
“Three times in 30 minutes. Nobody’s shoulder should be going like that. So in my head I was lying down and I was like: ‘That’s me out for another few months.’
“You know that and you know the devastation straight away. You can see it on my face.”
Tierney had never played outside of Scotland before Arsenal came calling.
He racked up 170 appearances for Celtic over five seasons at Parkhead for his boyhood club.
And despite the troubled start to his career down south, the full-back is far from downhearted.
“Keeping myself energized and motivated is quite easy because I have great people around me,” he told Sport Bible. “I have my family and friends to help.
“I have everything I need. I will work hard every single day for myself, my club and my family.”
