HOMES 33 Family happy to show potential buyers their Taylor Wimpey home

- saturday 28.03.2020 HOME SWEET HOME... Stuart, Lisa, Hayley and Rebecca love life at Letham Mains in East Lothian

Abigger family and need for more space persuaded Lisa Thomson and Stuart Rollo to become homeowners for the first time.

I recommend Letham Mains to friends and my cousin moved here recently. I joked with the sales exec that I might have sold more houses than she has. Stuart Rollo

The couple wanted more room for their daughters, Rebecca, four, and Hayley, six. “We had been renting a house for quite some time and I couldn’t really see why I would want to move,” said Stuart, 41, a driver for a brewery. “But as the girls are growing up, we felt we needed more space and I thought if I don’t buy a house now, I’ll never do it.” They bought a three-bedroom, semi-detached in Taylor Wimpey’s Letham Mains development near Haddington, East Lothian. There was no showhome of the Boswell style house they liked, but they went ahead and reserved it off-plan as they had viewed it at other sites in Letham Mains. Stuart said: “The Boswell was perfect for us. It has a great layout and a two-year warranty and a National House Builders’ Council 10-year guarantee. Moving in made sense.

“We were nervous about buying from plan but the sales executive from Taylor Wimpey was reassuring.”

Stuart is so pleased with his new home that he’s invited several prospective buyers to look around.

He said: “We’re so happy with our house, the move and the whole process, that I really don’t mind showing other people the layout – after all, they might become neighbours.

“Any snagging issues have been dealt with brilliantly. I’ve recommended the development to friends and family and my cousin bought recently. I joked with the sales executive that I might have sold more houses than she has.”

Taylor Wimpey at Letham Mains is part of a wider development of just over 800 new homes that will bring community benefits. These include a primary school, a link road, a sports pitch and a park.

The couple’s house overlooks the new school and their daughter Hayley was the first child to be enrolled in the new Letham Mains Primary.

Lisa, 38, who works for East Lothian Council, said: “Our experience was really good and everything about our house is just perfect. We’re all really settled and just love it here.”

Taylor Wimpey has now launched the next phase of the Letham Mains development, with 66 new homes for sale, with a choice of two, three, four and five bedrooms.

Haddington, on the River Tyne, is the largest town in East Lothian. It’s within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh.

Kirsty McGill, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said: “It’s lovely to see our Letham Mains development coming to life and to hear how happy Stuart and Lisa are about their move.

“The response to our development has been incredible and our new phase means we can now offer more opportunities for people to join the growing community in Haddington.”
