I’ve made a lockdown bucket list after cupboard clear out

- Anne Hughes, 44, Govan START TO MEDITATE LEARN YOGA LEARN HOW TO SCULPT YOUR BEARD CORRECTLY

AT THE beginning of this week, it felt like we were on a wet caravan holiday in the rain and had spent all our money in the amusements.

Cleaning out my “big cupboard” ended up with me being the very definition of a lucky midgie.

I found my wedding dress, last worn when I got married 19 years ago, the French books from that night class I once took, and a poker set, so my lockdown bucket list now includes learning a new language and winning lots of money from my husband Garry.

I think we’ve got a choice about how we decide to do the lockdown, well some of us do. We’re at the start of something that’s not going away any time soon and I feel lucky that the worst thing that happened to me this week was that I spilled a G&T on my wedding dress – but I’ll never wear it again, except to make my weans laugh, they’re endlessly amused by my eccentricity. A lot of people are having a much worse time.

I’ve been writing a book for a few years but lacking the commitment needed, so I now have the opportunity to get it done. It’s called After the Meteor, so I reckon it’s one people will want to read when all of this is done. I’m also spreading my Bolshie Govan Hippy vibes on social media, and I’m posting

videos, blogs and continuing to record Ignite The Radio Show’, for Sunny Govan Radio from home.

I’ve started a radio show called Lockdown Discs, where I play song requests and tell the stories that go with them. Anything to try to keep people connected. We all have a responsibility to look out for each other just now. ●Follow Anne at www. annehughesignite.co.uk and get in touch if you want to request a song for Lockdown Discs.

Now more than ever we need to find ways to keep calm and carry on – and meditation may be the perfect way to do that. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before, there are lots of apps, including Calm – Meditation And Sleep, which can help and online tutorials on YouTube.

This ancient form of exercise focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. And the good thing is, you can take it up at any age or fitness level. There are lots of videos on YouTube for both adults and kids.
