Shot man injured again in ‘stabbing’
BY GRAEME THOMSON A MAN shot in a gun attack that killed a dog in January is back in hospital after being “stabbed” in an attack at the weekend.
Marc McDermott was shot in the back and backside in the previous assault that took place in Cumbernauld’s Brunswick Gardens on January 23.
A dog walker was also injured during the incident and her pet, a white Maltichon called Henry, died as a result of a firearm being discharged.
McDermott, 27, was taken to hospital after the shooting before being released.
He is now believed to have been stabbed in the town on Saturday night.
Emergency services raced to Hornbeam Road after reports of a 27-yearold with serious injuries.
McDermott was rushed to hospital and his condition is described as “serious but stable”.
Locals have said the man was stabbed. The scene was cordoned off and officers were in the street for a number of hours.
Police have said they are still investigating the exact circumstances but are treating the incident as a “serious assault”.
They added: “At about 7pm on Saturday, police discovered a 27-year-old man with serious injuries. He was taken to Monklands and hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.”
After January’s incident, two men, both 23, were arrested and charged. They are due to appear in court at a later date.

The British socialite is accused of sexually assaulting Annie Farmer, then 16, at the financier’s ranch in the US state of New Mexico, according to author and lawyer Bradley Edwards.
In his book, Edwards, who represents more than 20 of Epstein’s victims, details the claims in court of Annie, who is now 40.
She alleged Epstein and Maxwell took her shopping and then back to Zorro Ranch, where she modelled cowboy boots they bought for her.
Annie claimed Epstein then said she “deserved a massage”.

Among the girls Maxwell is accused of recruiting is Virginia Giuffre, who said she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17 at Epstein’s direction.
Maxwell and the Duke of York, 60, have vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
Andrew said he does not recall ever meeting his accuser.
Virginia, 36, has previously claimed in court papers that Maxwell had sex with dozens of girls.
Another alleged victim, Priscilla Doe, said that in 2006, at Epstein’s Little St James island, Maxwell taught her “step by step” the “proper way” to perform a sex act for the paedophile.
