Fergie: Park the perfect leader for my old club

BARRY FERGUSON is convinced Rangers are in safe hands under new interim-chairman Douglas Park’s leadership.
The founder of Park’s Motor Group has replaced Dave King.
Former Ibrox midfielder Ferguson is no doubt the new man, who was part of the Three Bears movement that helped force out the Mike Ashley-backed regime in 2015, can lead Rangers through troubled waters amid the coronavirus crisis.
Fergie said: “I know Douglas Park pretty well and he’s a shrewd businessman. He knows how to work a business so I think Rangers are in safe hands under his leadership.
“I know it will be a trying time but when I saw him being named chairman it settled the nerves a wee bit, knowing what type of businessman he is, knowing what type of guy he is. I think Rangers will be fine and they’ll ride this storm out.
“He wouldn’t take the job and wouldn’t be writing cheques for the last couple of years if he didn’t have the finances to put into the club.
“I know his businesses now will be taking a hit but I’d think he would have a decent personal fortune to put into the team he has always supported.”
HE’S flirted with the idea of buying Rangers more than once before.
So when a video emerged over the weekend in which Jim McColl appeared to hint at a possible future buy-out of the Ibrox club it was difficult to tell just how seriously he wanted his words to be taken.
