Here, some of Scotland’s most famous dog lovers tell the Daily Record why their pets have been the perfect companion during these recent tough times.

TV HOST Lorraine Kelly has been presenting her Lorraine show five days a week since the coronaviru­s pandemic hit the UK. She says her border terrier Angus has been the ideal buddy.

She said: “Angus has kept my spirits up throughout lockdown. I’m getting fresh air and exercise every day taking him out for a walk but, more importantl­y, he’s a brilliant stress buster.

ROYAL Butler Grant Harold has been entertaini­ng others during lockdown with the help of his six miniature dachshunds – Shumba, Tsuro, Mwana, Imbwa, Dora and Peppa.

JEREMY Vine presenter Storm Huntley, 33, has a close bond with her shih-tzu Boo and says getting out and about with him after a hard shift in the studio is bliss.

She said: “Boo has to get out every day. I’m out walking him for an hour-and-a-half. It’s a great way of forgetting your troubles of the day. He’s definitely my doggy hero.”

LOVE Island star Laura Anderson, 30, says her pomeranian Buddy has been a godsend during lockdown. She said: “Buddy is my wee pal, my baby. He’s great company and I don’t know where I would have been without him. Walking him keeps me sane and it’s thanks to him I am now with my boyfriend, Tom Brazier. “We met at the beginning of the year while I was out walking Buddy and he was out walking his French bulldog Tricep. “We decided to isolate together and luckily the dogs are getting on as well as Tom and I are. Buddy is a wee matchmakin­g star.”
